The Core Range

Barnes Wallis IPA

Barnes Wallis IPA Bitter 4.1% (our session bitter)

Named after Ripley's local hero, who lived near our brewery tap, Barnes Wallis is our best selling session ale. Styled as an easy-drinking IPA-style bitter, copper-coloured for a full malt flavour and hopped with Northern Brewer and spicy Syrian Goldings.

Samuel Slater

Samuel Slater 4.2% (hops, hops and more hops)

Sam Slater is our quadruple hopped American-style Amber Ale, with lots of flavour from the high-alpha Nugget & Cascade hops, the cara-malt base and an imported American Ale yeast. So-named after the 'founding father' of the American Industrial Revolution, from Belper!

Original Stout

Original Stout 4.0%

SIBA Champion Porters, Strong Milds, Old Ales & Stouts 2009 - Bronze medal.

Our much-lauded 'Original' is a self-styled traditional stout. Made with a complex blend of five malts to give a full-flavoured, yet smooth and easy drinking base and bittered with a blend of Saaz, Fuggle and Styrian Goldings for a subtle hop aroma.

Chocolate Orange Stout

Chocolate Orange Stout 4.0% Bitter chocolate and orange in a glass

Champion Beer of Britain (Speciality) 2009 - Bronze medal

Mansfield & Ashfield CAMRA: Beer of the Festival 2009

Chesterfield CAMRA Rail Ale: Beer of the Festival 2009

Created for a non real-ale drinking landlady we tweaked our Stout, adding yet more chocolate malt and Curacao orange peel to the boil. We add lots of vanilla pods during fermentation and yet more orange is added into each cask, followed by a long slow maturation. A traditional with a twist!

Imperial IPS

Imperial IPA 6.5%

SIBA Midlands Strong Ales 2008 - Silver medal

A real-ale drinker's nirvana, this traditional IPA has a substantial malty base with a big hop profile, taking its cue from the traditional Burton world-beater and also from the hoppy US craft beers, triple hopped using a unique blend of four different hop profiles. Combination of Nugget, Syrian Goldings, Cascade and Goldings.

Seasonal Ales

Winter Ruby

Winter Ruby Fireside Ale 5.1%

Winter Ruby is our rich, ruby ale perfect for sipping next to the fireside when the winter nights draw in. The biscuit tasting, malty base is balanced with a subtle flavour of Saaz hops.

Amber Blond

Blond 3.9%

A lighter drinking ale version of a German lager - Blond is packed full of taste despite a low abv and malt content. Well balanced and hopped with Saaz, Liberty and Hallertau.

Summer Bock

Summer Bock 4.5%

Our chestnut-coloured summer ale, was inspired by the European dark lager-style ales and made in the Amber way of blending tradition with the contemporary. It has a clean tasting Munich malt base and low hop aroma making it decidedly moreish and easy to drink.

Amber Pale

Amber Pale 4.4%

Tamworth CAMRA: Beer of the Festival 2006

Our very first brew, Amber pale is made with Maris Otter pale malt with a touch of crystal, and triple-hopped exclusively with Goldings sourced from Herefordshire. In addition to our core and seasonal ales we brew a monthly special ale. Contact us for further details.
